Our treatments are based on protocols used in clinical trials, which demonstrated increased blood flow to the uterus and ovaries and better regulation of hormones, which are important to follicular development and successful implantation.
Generally speaking patients receive acupuncture twice weekly for 4-6 weeks prior to embryo transfer, the day before their retevial, and acupuncture for pre-and post embryo transfer. While other patients receive preconception acupuncture for 3 -6 months depending on age and their reproductive history.

Based on our clinical observation we have modified the study, patients receive preconception acupuncture for 4-6 weeks prior to IVF followed by a treatment the day before retevial and pre and post transfer, with two holding treatments after the transfer until pregnancy is confirmed. Using this protocol we have seen more pregnancies and fewer miscarriages.

Increases Implantation Rates
A recent large study published in the Journal of Fertility and Sterility, demonstrated through a randomized, placebo-controlled, multiarm trial of in vitro fertilization at the Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT), that laser acupuncture before and after embryo-transfer improved implantation rates up to 15%. This is the largest randomized, controlled study evaluating acupuncture in a setting of IVF, as well as evaluating laser as an adjunctive therapy on IVF.
The Zoll Center is currently one of the only clinics in Florida to offer this proven therapy of laser and acupuncture to increase implantation rates, using the Luminex Laser and same protocol as used in RMA study.

Women that are preparing for an IUI receive twice weekly acupuncture treatments for four to five weeks prior to an IUI procedure. In addition acupuncture is given the day before, the same or next day, and three days after IUI.
